My interest in photography began as a boyhood hobby. After sundown, my dad and I would sometimes convert the family farm’s milkhouse into a make-shift photolab, then develop our film and watch the images magically appear on our contact prints. As a design student at the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, I was exposed to photographic art through the legendary instruction of Jerry Stratton, who is as much an artist and technical master as his mentors: Bret Weston, Minor White, and Ansel Adams. After graduation, while raising a family and pursuing a design career, my in-home darkroom remained active, but this time it was my son learning the craft and eventually developing the skills to become a successful commercial photographer. Now our darkroom is obsolete; digital technology has prevailed. But it still takes the mind of a scientist and the eye of an artist to deliver a well-composed, correctly processed image.

As Snappy George, I focus on delivering artful, informative photographs to architects, builders, businesses, entrepreneurs, and real estate professionals. Most of my assignments take place in and around the Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Indianapolis, Lexington, and Louisville metro areas. I also accept national and international assignments.

I shoot from a tripod with full-frame Nikon digital cameras using Nikkor professional service lenses that are specially designed for architectural and commercial photography. When available light is not adequate, I use off-camera supplemental lighting. Image files are post-processed and edited in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and in most cases uploaded as high-resolution JPEG files to a Dropbox folder for client access.

I’ve done major home shows in Cincinnati, Toledo, and Northern Kentucky, and my work has been published in Cincinnati Refined, West Chester & Liberty Township Lifestyle, Cincinnati Magazine, Sophisticated Living, and Architectural Digest. Several of my clients have won recognition in their respective professional organizations with photographs I have provided of their projects.

I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America, and as an affiliate member of the Cincinnati Area Board of Realtors, I maintain a subscription to the Supra lock-box system.
