ABOUT SNAPPY GEORGE

My interest in photography began as a boyhood hobby. After sundown, my dad and I would sometimes convert the family farm’s milkhouse into a make-shift photolab, then develop our film and watch the images magically appear on our contact prints. Later, as a design student at the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, I was exposed to photographic art through the legendary instruction of Jerry Stratton, who is as much an artist and technical master as his mentors: Bret Weston, Minor White, and Ansel Adams. After graduation, while raising a family and pursuing a design career, my in-home darkroom remained active, but this time it was my son learning the craft and eventually developing the skills to become a successful commercial photographer. Now our darkroom is obsolete; digital technology has prevailed.

As Snappy George, I focus on delivering artful, informative photographs to architects, builders, businesses, entrepreneurs, and real estate professionals mostly within a hundred and fifty miles of Cincinnati.

I believe that a well-composed image with honest rendering of color, light, and shadow imparts great value to its subject matter. Every photograph I produce is the result of years of artistic experience and scientific understanding.

Most of my camera sessions are conducted from a tripod with full-frame Nikon mirrorless cameras using Nikkor professional service lenses that are especially designed for architectural and commercial photography. When available light is not adequate, off-camera supplemental lighting is used. Post-processing and editing is performed in-house using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Finished files are usually formatted as high-resolution JPEG files and uploaded to a project-specific Dropbox folder within forty-eight hours of the camera session.

I have photographed major home shows in Cincinnati, Toledo, and Northern Kentucky, and have been published in Cincinnati Refined, West Chester & Liberty Township Lifestyle, Cincinnati Magazine, Sophisticated Living, Architectural Digest, and in various national trade publications.

My clients include some of the most respected names among architects, builders, interior designers, entrepreneurs, real estate professionals, and private individuals located not only in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Louisville, and Lexington, but also nationally and internationally. Several have won awards within their national peer groups using works they asked me to produce.

I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America and an FAA-certified drone pilot. As an affiliate member of the Realtor Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, I maintain a subscription to the Sentrilock lock-box system. I carry a two million dollar business liability insurance policy.

My fees are based on a project’s scope, complexity, timing, and usage, and are competitively positioned among similar services offered by other professional photographers.
